About Me
Hello! My name is Rochelle! I started this blog not because I am trying to gain a bunch of followers or be the center of attention. Honestly, I am usually the opposite. Being the center of attention around a bunch of strangers? No thank you. Now, with my family and friends, that can be a little different depending on the situation — especially on my birthday. Then I may not mind it quite as much. But really, I just wanted a place to share some stories: the good, the bad, and the ugly. I do not claim to be perfect. In fact, I claim the complete opposite. I am flawed, just like everyone else. I am just a girl born and raised in Kansas, trying to do my best with what I have and always trying to do a little better than I did the day before… some days are more successful than others.
Along the way, you’ll see pieces of my life here in the Heartland — the everyday moments, the adventures I take close to home, and the travels I dream about and eventually make happen. This blog is a mix of stories, reflections, and glimpses into what it feels like to grow up and live in Kansas.
A few things you should know about me right from the start:
- I love God! I believe Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I won’t hear otherwise… and no, I do not need to justify my beliefs. Do I walk perfectly every day? Absolutely not. I stumble all the time, and I guarantee you will see that throughout my stories.
- My mom is one of my best friends, so you will definitely be reading about some of our adventures — the simple days we enjoy, the memories we make, and yes, probably a few moments when we irritate each other too.
- Another important thing to know while you follow along is that there may not always be a rhyme or reason to my stories. They may feel completely random… and honestly, that is kind of the point. Hence the name Heartland Diaries.
At the heart of Heartland Diaries is a simple mission: I write to share honest stories that remind us that ordinary life — even when it’s messy, unpredictable, or imperfect — is still meaningful.
So, follow along if you are also just doing the best you can in this crazy thing called life. Maybe you will learn a thing or two about yourself. Maybe you just want to read stories that make you feel a little better about your own life. Maybe you have it more together than I do, and reading about someone else’s mess will make you feel better about yours. Or maybe, if you think I have my life together more than you do, I can give you something hopeful to look forward to and prayerfully show you that you, too, can grow, improve, and better your life. Wherever you are in your journey, I’m glad you’re here. Welcome to Heartland Diaries.
